Malaysia's animation, comics, and gaming (ACG) community is set to converge on Bukit Bintang this July as Comic Fiesta Anime Fest! KL 2026 takes over Sungei Wang Plaza and JUMPA at Sungei Wang from 24 to 26 July 2026. Best of all? Entry is completely free for all three days, running from 10am to 10pm daily.
One of Malaysia's Biggest Free ACG Events
Organised by the team behind Comic Fiesta, Malaysia's longest-running anime, comics, and games convention, first established in 2002, Anime Fest! KL has grown into one of the country's most anticipated pop culture gatherings. While the flagship Comic Fiesta draws around 75,000 visitors to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre each December, this July edition brings the same energy to the heart of Bukit Bintang at no cost to attendees.
The Sungei Wang Plaza and JUMPA venue offers a central, highly accessible location surrounded by shopping, food outlets, and direct transport links via the Bukit Bintang monorail station. For visitors travelling from outside Kuala Lumpur, it makes for an easy day trip. For locals, it is the kind of event you can drop into without advance planning.
What to Expect Over Three Days
The festival is built around the core pillars of ACG culture, animation, comics, and gaming, with a strong emphasis on interactivity. Rather than simply walking through booths, visitors step into a space where creativity happens in real time.
Artist Alley will feature rows of local illustrators, fan art creators, and independent comic publishers. This is where hidden gems are discovered, from printed zines to limited-edition merchandise unavailable in mainstream stores. Independent artists can apply for booth spaces through the official Comic Fiesta portal.
Cosplay showcases remain a headline attraction. Malaysia's cosplay community has grown significantly, and this event provides a stage for both seasoned cosplayers and newcomers. Expect elaborate costumes inspired by popular anime, games, and Western franchises, making the venue highly photogenic for casual visitors too.
Gaming zones will offer hands-on play, casual competitions, and spectator areas, adding an entertainment layer beyond browsing booths.
Anisong Performances, A First for July
The most talked-about addition for 2026 is the introduction of anisong artistes as closing acts. Anisong, anime songs associated with iconic opening and ending themes, brings a festival-like atmosphere, creating a shared musical experience to cap off each day. This addition is expected to draw fans who may not typically attend conventions but come for the live performances.
